Sustained peace in Sri Lanka is our goal.
This requires fundamental changes to our Republican Constitution, which politicians originally approved for themselves. Instead, the Constitution should serve as the rule book of the state, reflecting the people’s values, vision, and mission, whilst protecting sovereignty, non-aligned status, and independence. It should establish a governing structure in which the executive, legislature, and judiciary are fully independent, with effective built-in checks and balances.
Our mission is to reiterate the need for a public referendum on at least the essential aspects that should be included in our national “rule book” — the Constitution — supported by a consultative public petition. The current government was empowered by the people in 2024 for this purpose, and we believe the process should begin now, as it may take at least two years to complete in a fully legitimate and democratic manner.
