This presentation and discussion on "Emerging Plant Diseases and Their Threat to Food Security and the Economy" was enlightening in many respects and highlighted several important issues that require further scrutiny and action. These included food contamination, the promotion of food production at the household level, and the use of genetic engineering to develop disease- and flood-resistant crops in order to maintain food production stability in Sri Lanka.
