Why Do Rich Democratic Countries Stay Rich? – An Open Forum LEADS meeting Sunday, 7th June 26

This video explores some of the key reasons why rich democratic countries remain prosperous while many developing nations struggle to achieve similar progress. There is much for all of us to learn, and by understanding these issues more deeply, we may be better placed to influence policymakers and contribute to meaningful change.

Presented in English, the video provides an outline that may help us assess what we, as a developing nation, should do to climb the ladder of progress and development. Our aim is to develop practical recommendations that can help Sri Lanka overcome the challenges that have kept us a developing nation, even 78 years after independence.

Singapore gained independence in 1965 and was well on its way to becoming a First World nation by the year 2000. What lessons can we learn from such success stories, and how can we overcome the major obstacles that continue to hinder our own development?

I would welcome all comments, suggestions, corrections, and alternative viewpoints on this topic. Please send them to me at admin@srilankaleads.com  so that our publication can become a collective set of recommendations rather than simply reflecting the views of a few individuals.
